Mixthru #2 (Pop)

Hey, folks. Matthew Weiss here. I’m going to talk to you about Mixthru #2, which is all about the genre Pop. The song that is going to be in practice is Losing It by Joe Lowery. This is a song that was written and produced by Joe, however, there was additional production as well as tracking by me, so you’re going to get to hear some of my recordings, not just my mixing.

This is a really dense arrangement, so this is a longer Mixthru. That said, it is absolutely packed full of awesome information. It’s about three hours in length, but very detailed, so you’re going to be hearing how to work out complex arrangement, how to balance multiple bass elements, how to break down a bridge that becomes very sparse when the rest of the record is very dense, working in guitars in a Pop sense, using some cross-genre influence…

There’s just a lot of really cool stuff in here. I think this is a great Mixthru even if you don’t necessarily do a lot of Pop music. I think you’re going to learn a lot and be able to translate a lot of the ideas you get into other genres as well, but Pop is a very mix heavy genre. There’s a lot that goes on and a lot that’s involved in terms of the technique, so I think that this is probably one of my favorite tutorials to date. I think you’re going to get a lot from it.
